Avisoft RECORDER, version 4.4.2 (18 June 2026)
- The UltraSoundGate device driver usgh_x64.sys has been signed by Microsoft to pass the new Windows driver policy. Install RECORDER USGH version 4.4.2-32 or later and update the device driver as follows to fix the potential Windows Security warning This driver has been blocked usgh_x64.sys does not pass the Windows driver policy: Navigate to the Windows Device Manager by right-clicking at the Windows Start menu, select the Device Manager, right-click at the Avisoft-UltraSoundGate xx16x device and select the popup menu item Update driver. Select the option Browse my computer for drivers and use the Browse… button to navigate to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Avisoft Bioacoustics\RECORDER USGH\Drivers and click at Ok, Next and Close. See also Updating the_UltraSoundGate_device_driver.pdf
- The new option Options > Allow slave mode for single USG device setup of the RECORDER USGH software allows to configure the SYNC input of the UltraSoundGate x16H devices as an external sampling clock input for synchronization purposes in combination with third-party hardware. (see Avisoft-RECORDER Advanced USGH Device Settings )
- The newly implemented RMS Trigger Event option allows triggering based on the root mean square rather than the amplitude of the waveform, which can be useful for recording plant sounds (deactivate the Range option to acces the new RMS option). Amplitude and RMS trigger levels can now be adjusted visually from the waveform display.
- On multichannel recording devices, the high-pass and custom filter can now be individually activated or deactivated for each channel (see Filter channel selection).
- The FIR filter algorithm has been optimized for modern processors that have fast integrated floating-point units, resulting in reduced CPU load.
- The new custom filter option on the Input Device Settings section of the Configuration dialog box can be used to flatten frequency responses of MEMS microphones that exhibit unwanted resonance peaks.
- The TRG / TRIGGER output of the UltraSoundGate device can now be remote-controlled from the SASLab Pro software via DDE, which allows to send out TTL pulses in response to certain classified vocalizations (see Advanced USGH Device Settings).
- The new option Options > Display > Root mean square can help better measuring absolute sound levels (see Display)
- On the waveform and energy in f-range displays it is now possible to measure amplitudes and durations using the mouse cursor.
- The maximum file size setting on the Configuration dialog box can now define individual limits for each channel when the new option Options > Allow individual maximum file sizes for each channel has been activated.
- The newly added decimation feature allows recording from the same physical audio input device at two different sample rates, which can be used for instance for monitoring both bats and birds using a single broad-band microphone only.
- The resolution of the log file time stamps has been increased to milliseconds. Note however that the accuracy of these timestamps is limited due to the pipline processing of the incoming data.
